I love the work of Ron English, especially his guerilla art style of putting up culture jamming billboards in widely-viewed areas. His campaign regarding McDonalds, obesity, and recombinant bovine growth hormone was fantastic, and his message about speaking out is priceless. Taking back what control the corporations have taken from the people is a good thing that I approve of. If you like this stuff there is so much out there -- for instance, check out a friend of mine, Ryan Powell, at http://www.blog.aimlessmovie.com. added on 2008-09-04

I don't care how old you are, if there were LEGOs in front of you, you would instinctively build something. LEGOs are just irresistible, so how could you possibly resist something as cool as a LEGO Salt and Pepper Shaker Set. These shakers are modeled after those LEGO people's heads, one head is salt, the other head is pepper. Now don't play with your food all night. added on 2008-09-04

According to Greek mythology, Atlas had the burden of holding the weight of the world upon his shoulders and today the cool new Hotman Trivet ($18) has the burden of holding up all of your heavy scalding hot pots and pans. Hotman is a red powder-coated metal stick-figure man that will help to keep your countertops and other surfaces safe from burns all without ever breaking a sweat. added on 2008-09-04

If you grew up in the 1980s, you more than likely had a Rubik's Cube. Yes, the classic toy puzzle cube that had you twisting and turning colored cubes over and over again, endlessly hoping to return the cube back to its original state. I never did solve my cube. The last memory I had of it was a melting blob of fiery plastic burning in my backyard during a Transformers Vs Gobots war over Energon cubes.

Apparently, this toy cannot be destroyed in toy battles though, because it's back and it's now... a table! The Rubik's Cube Coffee Table ($600) is inspired by the classic toy and makes a cool end table or coffee table. Thankfully, the colored cubes in this version don't actually move, so it will always be in a perpetual state of solved. added on 2008-09-04
