Sao Paulo's Tirana bar may not be the first club to use a Communist theme, but it's probably among the first gay bars to use a Communist theme. And it's certainly the first gay Communist bar named after the capital of Albania, in Brazil or elsewhere. Actually, it may be an insensitive presumption that Tirana is a gay bar, despite the "homosexual iconography." Nevertheless, Josh Spear likes the place, and he certainly has a point about the lack of dancefloor focus being unusual for Sao Paulo.
