Pittsburgh's Sharp Edge Beer Emporium has 50 beers on tap, is clocking in with 5 out of 5 stars on Yelp, and was awarded "Best Belgian Beer Bar in America" from the Petit Flut€ Guide to Belgian Beer. They've also won not a few awards for their food, mostly for their pizzas. What you have to know in advance: you're in Pittsburgh, and this here is a yinzer bar. That means two things. One: dirt cheap happy hour wiht $1 pitchers and 25 cent wings. Two: people smoking in the restaurant. But no worries - since it's a classy joint, they're smoking cigars. Classy cigars.]]>
Head over to the Atomic Testing Museum in Vegas. As Roadside America reports, the museum "blend[s] seriousness and whimsy is everywhere. The museum opens with a dramatic three-screen video of Nazis and Einstein and The Bomb -- the implied reasons why we have a Nevada Test Site -- then it's on to goofy stuff in the Atomic Age Gallery: 1950s-era atomic comic books, juice glasses, Christmas ornaments, etc." The tour, curiously, ends with a chunk of the Berlin Wall. Sienna Miller obviously did not visit the "Hollywood Bowl" room or engage in "Pizza, Pop & Bowling" at Arsenal Bowling Lanes in Pittsburgh. I'm guessing she missed Karaoke Night and Country Night as well, or she wouldn't have given the city her clever intestinally-derived appellation. From the looks of the decrepit shoes, nothing much has changed from when I took bowling lessons here, every Tuesday afternoon as a kid. But, as someone who hadn't reached double digits in years yet, I missed out on Arsenal's "programming," not counting one of my birthday parties held here. Games will run you a whopping $3.25 before 6pm, and after that, $3.65. The best deal by far is College Night, where games are 50 cents as are drafts. Talk about a cheap date! Valentine's Day anyone? Hopefully you're lucky like me and have a never expiring college ID to get you in. There are many "all you can bowl" specials, including Karaoke night. However, I cannot vouch for this from personal experience, but the website's description of "Tito coaxing you to step and sing all night" is intriguing.]]>
